During the regular September meeting of the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education, a motion carried to keep the co-op agreement with Pattonsburg for the boys’ basketball team.

The financial statement was presented and bills were paid as presented during the Sept. 17th meeting.
Callie Heckenbach presented the bus inspection award received by North Daviess from the Missouri Highway Patrol during September.
The following grants were approved: Title I, PDC, PAT, Drug Free School, Rural Schools, and Special Education.
The bus routes were approved as presented.
During administrative reports, Ms. Kirby presented the trailer that is for sale from the FFA. Mrs. Weldon said the back to school BBQ went well. Mr. Jackson took two students to a choir contest. One of the students will be going to districts. Mr. Reece offered a Hunter Safety Course the last week of September after school.
Mrs. Morris noted a 70% turn out at the open house. The school earned $729 from the book fair with funds going to the library. The St. Jude’s fund-raiser for cancer began Sept. 17. Susan Jones held a workshop over homework procedures on Sept. 27 parents interested in helping their child with homework.
The board entered executive session. Upon returning to open session, a motion to honor Axel Olson’s request to not be found insubordinate by his actions as directed by administration, failed by a vote of yes 3 and no 3.
According to Superintendent Julie Kirby the issue of insubordination was in regards to Mr. Olson not following a seating arrangement and not obtaining the proper permit to drive the vo-tech bus to Bethany. Mrs. Kirby said Mr. Olson had been asked to obtain the permit in May of this year.
According to the Missouri Department of Revenue, public and private school employees who operate school busses transporting students from home to school, school to home, and school-sponsored events are required to have a school bus endorsement on their license.
Because he did not have the new S endorsement, Mr. Olson had been driving a van, not a school bus, to the vo-tech school.
The board then passed a motion to reinstate Mr. Olson as custodian only, by a vote of yes 4, no 2.
The board discussed hiring a vo-tech bus driver, requiring an S endorsement in order to drive the bus.
Next meeting was set for 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, at the high school conference room.

Board members present were David Iddings, Beverly Hunter, Chris Nelson, Doug Baker, Jason Lewis and Cecil McCrary. Debbie Ray was absent.
