Rita Russell from Westbrook Auditing Firm out of Richmond was present during the regular meeting of the Pattonsburg R-2 Board of Education held Wednesday, Sept. 19, to discuss the school’s audit which took place Aug. 7-8. The school received a clean audit with no findings.
The tax rate hearing was Friday, August 24. The tax levy for the incidental fund was set at $4.5607 and the Debt Service levy was set for $0.6149 for a total of $5.1756, which is the same as last year’s levy.
Mr. McCrary resigned as junior high girl’s basketball coach and the board accepted his resignation during the Sept. 19 meeting.
After returning from executive session, Mr. Silkett was hired as the girl’s basketball coach.
A revision of a bus route was approved.
Mr. Silkett, high school principal, discussed attendance rates and incentives for August; student of the month recognition to begin in September; cooping of athletics; and improvements needed for the track later in the year.
Mrs. Brady, elementary principal, discussed reading professional development with SBRR strategies; revisions to the crisis plan with action taken to hopefully improve safety; and attendance rates and incentives.
The board approved a policy revision regarding the school calendar.
Budget amendments were approved.
The ongoing roof repair was discussed.
MSIP updates were discussed. A “parent advanced questionnaire” was returned with 92% response from the elementary and 50% from the high school. DESE will tabulate the results of the questionnaire and it will be part of the MSIP review on April 2.
The board discussed what was allowable for administrative mileage reimbursements.
The board approved a transfer of reserve money into a six-month CD.
