The Missouri Department of Conservation will again be buying tree and shrub seed. The seed collected in Chillicothe and other collection points are shipped to the George O. White nursery at Licking and used for producing the seedlings that are sold to the public every spring.

A complete list of species being bought and prices of seed can be obtained at the Chillicothe  office. No Black Walnut or redbud seed will be bought at the Chillicothe buying station this year. Most seed is purchased by the pound. Prices for the seed are established by the nursery based on the number of seeds per pound and need.
The Missouri Department of Conservation will purchase tree seeds from 2-6 p.m. at the Chillicothe Office on: Oct. 4, 9, 17 and 25. The office is located on the south side of Highway 36 across from the Chillicothe airport. Seeds collected from wild trees in their native environment are preferred. Acorns may include caps, and it is helpful to include a few leaves. Seeds should be free of dirt, rocks, twigs and leaves.
We reserve the right to stop buying seed once our needs are met. Please call our office to find out if we are still buying before you collect and bring in seed. We also reserve the right to reject poor quality seed. For more information call 660-646-6122.
