Rachel’s Challenge is a school assembly and training program that was birthed out of the Columbine High School Tragedy in 1999.
The assembly will be presented to students grades five through 12 during the day time and will have a community-wide event that evening in the high school gymnasium from 7-8 p.m.
Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for one of the most life-changing school programs in America – Rachel’s Challenge.
Rachel’s grieving family turned her tragedy into “one of the most life-changing school programs in America.” The message through schools and communities is to challenge individuals to deliver a chain reaction of hope and kindness. Students in grades five through 12 will experience the assembly that will hopefully motivate them to make a positive change in the way they treat others.
Since schools are a major part of the community, in order to change the climate of our schools it is important that the community be involved. Therefore, parents, community leaders and community members are encouraged to attend a special community assembly.
