Bids for the walking trail, an “outhouse style” bathroom, new bathroom/concession buildings, and a new open shelter house were discussed at a special meeting of the Dockery Park Board held Aug. 30.
The large open shelter building is in structural distress due to age and weather. The board decided to fence off the building and place a bid notice for the construction of a new outside shelter. Mike Walker will be the contact person for the project. The new open shelter house will be at the same location as the old one and approximately the same size.
Bids for the bathroom projects and walking trail were opened and discussed.
Walking Trail Bids: Feigly –– Asphalt $23,837; Barney Esbeck –– Concrete $18,100; Jonathon Wright –– Concrete $19,800.
A motion was made and seconded to accept Barney Esbeck’s bid for the walking trail. The motion passed with one member abstaining.
Outhouse style bathroom bids: Jonathon Wright $10,150; Brown Lumber $12,761.
The board accepted Jonathon Wright’s bid for construction of the outhouse style bathroom. The motion passed with one member abstaining.
Upper bathroom/concession bid: Jonathon Wright $16,800. Lower bathroom/concession bid: Jonathon Wright $17,496.
A motion was made and seconded to table the issue of new bathroom/concession buildings. Motion passed with one abstaining.
Mowing issues and the pond were discussed. The pond still needs to be sprayed.
Present at the Aug. 30 special meeting were Mike Walker, Mike Butcher, Casey Griffin, Terri Wright, Kerry McBroom, David McLey, Tomie Walker, Alan Bradford and DeAnna Swalley.
