The first Pack meeting of this year will be a recruitment night on Thursday, Sept. 6. The meeting will be held in the Searcy Elementary gym from 6 to 8 p.m. Recruitment nights are open to any boy currently in first through fourth grade. Interested boys need to bring a parent along to sign up for scouts.
The Cub Scouts have many exciting things happening in September. The organization’s two moneymakers are held at this time. The scouts all take shifts working the Cub Scout concession stand during Friday and Saturday of the Chautauqua. This year’s menu has been changed to include biscuits and gravy for Saturday morning breakfast. Also new to the menu will be bratwursts and mini pizzas. Chautauqua weekend also opens the sale of Cub Scout popcorn. Scouts will have one month to meet their selling goals.
Pack 67 is funded by the boys’ hard work! The money they earn is used to pay camp registration fees as well as to fund monthly pack meetings and activities. All awards and patches that a scout earns and his scouting magazines are also paid for with the money raised from popcorn sales and the concession stand. The Cub Scout experience can be practically cost free to parents due to these moneymakers.
