Altamont sisters Kaddie and Samantha Mott received minor injuries in an accident on 165th Street, a half mile north of Altamont at about 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22.

According to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as Blair Shock, 26, Altamont, was northbound on 165th Street and attempted to make a left hand turn into a private driveway. He failed to yield to the vehicle driven by Kaddie, which was southbound on the street. The right front corner of Mr. Shock’s vehicle struck the left front corner of Kaddie’s vehicle. Mr. Shock’s vehicle came to rest facing southeast off the east side of the street. The Mott’s vehicle came to rest facing south, partially blocking southbound lanes of the street.

Kaddie, 16, and Samantha, 18, a passenger, were taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by Daviess County Ambulance. They were both wearing their seat belts.

The Mott’s 1994 Pontiac and Mr. Shock’s 1989 Honda were both extensively damaged. Mr. Shock’s vehicle was removed from the roadway by private vehicle. The Mott’s vehicle was towed by Bridgeman’s of Altamont.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. L.M. Newman, assisted by Cpl. P.M. Kimball and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.

Summons to Mr. Shock for failing to yield to vehicle approaching from the other direction when turning left.

A Hamilton man received serious injuries in a motorcycle accident at about 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22.

Ronald Coulston, 57, was southbound on Route DD about seven miles northwest of Gallatin. He failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the right side, overturned and was ejected. The motorcycle came to rest of the south side of the road.

Mr. Coulston was taken by Life Net to Heartland Medical. He was wearing his helmet.

The accident was investigated by Sgt. M.A. Ott, assisted by the Gallatin Police Department, Lake Viking Security, and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.

The 2001 Harley Davidson was moderately damaged and towed y Bridgemans.

Summons pending.
