The 116th Annual Jameson Picnic unfolds Aug. 9-10-11 at the Jameson City Park. New to this year’s slate of activities are the ATV Horseshoe Drags, a racing competition which begins at 2 p.m. Saturday. The event is sponsored by Club 180 race members.
Local music, dance and talent will be staged all three days of the picnic. Free drawings will be conducted every night after entertainment.
A carnival by MJR Amusements will operate throughout the picnic. The picnic is annually sponsored by the Jameson Lions Club.
Registration for a talent show begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The show begins at 6 p.m. The musical group “Saturation Point” caps the evening with a performance beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Friday night entertainment begins at 6 p.m. when Vera Nelson’s Dance Company performs. At 7:30 p.m. the “Old Town Jamboree” with Tim Dunagan will take the stage.
Saturday’s slate of activities begins with a baby show. Registration is at 9 a.m. and judging is at 9:30 a.m. Contestants will be grouped in five age categories, with a Little Mr. and Little Miss crowned from 3- and 4-year-old entries. The Picnic parade lines up at North Daviess R-3 High School at 11:30 a.m., rain or shine. Kids games will organize at 1 p.m.
Club 180 registration for ATV racing competition begins at 12:30 p.m. Competition is organized in 19 classes, comprising three divisions: Mini, Mid-Size and Full-Size. Club 180 Races (ATV Horseshoe Drags) begin at 2 p.m.
An auction and opening of a time capsule are planned at 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening. The musical group “Hazard County” performs at 8 p.m.
Church services will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday in the park to conclude the weekend’s activities.
Bring your lawn chairs, plan to eat at the Lions Club concession stand, and plan to attend this event … still popular after 116 years!
