A special meeting of the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail Board will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, at the jail in Pattonsburg to discuss hiring a vendor to provide health services to prisoners housed at the jail.
Larry Hewitt with Health Professionals attended the June meeting of the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail with a proposal for medical service. The proposal cost for a year was estimated at $90,390, which would include physician services (a physician on-site for four hours every two weeks), pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, hospitalization, laboratory, x-ray and ambulance services.
A second quote was sent to both Daviess and DeKalb County for review at their July meeting. That proposal included dental extractions.
The board, along with both county’s commissioners will meet Aug. 13 to discuss the proposal further, according to board secretary Mary Morrow.
Financial report, aging report and budget message were read by Larry Hadley at the June meeting and accepted by the board. Sales tax income was $118,859.77 for the month of June.
Year to date on sales tax income was $363,997.50. The sales tax checking account has a total of $365,468.79 in the account with $450,000 in a CD for a total of $815, 468.79.
The commissary grossed $18,475.66. Swanson had an income of $268.91.
Operating account balance was $245,330.31 with a CD of $400,000 for a total of $645,330.31. Since January 1, 2007, Daviess County has saved $181,264 on inmate housing and DeKalb County has saved $219,354.
Video court is still being discussed. The board is still waiting on numbers form Windstream.
The board set up an extradition checking account. Money withdrawn for this account will be for extraditions only. Any withdrawal over $600 will have to have two signatures. Anything under $600 will require one signature only. The account will open with an amount of $2,000.
