The all clogging competition hosted teams from Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas. Kylie Collins, Aubrey Nelson, Annie Nelson of Gallatin and Alexia Tolson from Laredo competed on the team of the American Rhythm Cloggers and Dance Company through directors Twilla Mann of Independence and Vera Nelson of Gallatin.
Annie Nelson won the five and under solo competition in which girls are brought forward in a calling line and have four (eight counts) to perform clogging steps to music they have never heard before.
The team “Coalminer,” which includes team members Kylie Collins, Aubrey Nelson and Alexia Tolson, won the team line division and were also one of five teams selected for the Grand Champion Dance Offs.
The 10-12 year old team competed against a 17-29-year-old group from Oklahoma, and placed fourth in the overall competition.
By winning their divisions the team Coalminer and Annie Nelson, soloist, were invited to compete in the National Clogging Championship Dance Offs in Las Vegas, Nev.
