Students from The Dance Company in Gallatin recently competed at the Showstoppers National Dance Competition in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Showstopper is in its 29th year and streamed live on the Internet. It hosted studios throughout the United States and Canada.
The national event ran for seven days with two stages and over 2,000 entries. Students performed a variety of solos, duets, trios and groups in many disciplines including tap, jazz, lyrical, musical theater and clogging.
Two students, Kaley Esbeck of Gallatin and Alexia Tolson of Laredo, were selected to learn and perform the opening number with top dancers from around the country participating in the National Dance Team. Routines performed at nationals received highest honors with several finishing in the top ten.
Students participating at the Myrtle Beach Nations include Kaley Esbeck, Lacey Shilt, Lindsey Dustman, Sadie Wilson, Mike Wilson, Emily Michener, Sydney Elbert, Kailey Elbert, Aubrey Nelson, Ainsley Tolson, Chloe Simmons, Annie Nelson, Alexia Tolson and Ryan Warren.
Competitive instructors Paul Bruinsma and Lacey Shilt accompanied Vera Dowell-Nelson, owner of The Dance Company, and the students with their parents to this National Dance Event.
