Stanley A. Ellis, 59, passed away, Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Mo.

Services were held Friday, June 22 at the First Baptist Church, Gallatin. Family visitation was held on Thursday night, June 21 at the church. Interment was in the Pilot Grove #2 Cemetery near Jamesport. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home or the Kidney Foundation.

Stan was born Oct. 25, 1947 in Trenton, Mo., to Scott and Norma Lee (Puls) Ellis. He graduated from Gilman City High School and attended Northwest Missouri State in Maryville where he played trumpet for the Marching Bearcats.

After leaving Maryville, Stan took a job with Anchor pharmaceuticals. He farmed north of Gallatin and worked at the First National Bank, then the Bank of Coffey for several years before he began his own freight brokerage firm, DaCapo Transportation, which he built from the ground up.

On Feb. 9, 2003 he was united in marriage to Mary Lee Froman. Stan was a member of the Gallatin First Baptist Church, and served on the Gallatin R-5 School Board for nearly twelve years. He was a supporter of various school and community groups including Gallatin FFA, FHA, 4-H, high school music department and athletic programs. He also spent many years as an avid MU basketball fan. He was a loving husband and father, a caring friend and a fun-loving man.

Survivors include his wife Mary Lee Froman-Ellis of the home, his daughters Kristen Ellis, Carrie Jo Ellis and Kim Carballo and husband Eric, one grandson, Elias; step-daughters Carrie Crouse and husband Gene, Christie Hill and husband Rick; two-step grandchildren Kirbie and Tommy Crouse; his brother Ron and wife Carolyn and their children, as well as numerous other relatives and devoted friends.
