Ted Holcomb and Ansel Tate put in a bid for barrel roof repair over the high school gymnasium for $3,100 and the North Daviess Board of Education accepted their bid during their regular meeting held June 18 at Coffey.
Nancy Edwards was offered a speech therapy contract.
Deva Lanning was offered a teaching contract for elementary position. Elmer Jackson was ofered a teaching contract for music.
The board accepted a resignation from Keith Sarver effective May 30, 2007 and from Angie Baker, school nurse.
The financial statement was present by Ms. Kirby and the board motioned to pay the bills as presented.
The 2006-2007 budget was amended to actual expenses and revenues.
Superintendent Julie Kirby presented the budget for 2007-2008 and the board approved the new budget.
Susan Jones reported on the Parents As Teachers Program and the Practical Parenting Partnership training she attended. Ms. Weldon told of her positive experiences with the PAT program.
Susan Jones was offered a contract for 40 hour per quarter for parental involvement coordinator pending federal grant approval.
Discussion was made regarding the need for an RN for school nurse. Ms. Kirby will place an ad for a nurse and substitute bus driver.
Bids will be solicited for milk, diesel fuel, pest control, fire extinguishers inspections and waste removal.
The board approved the Core Data report and the assurances statement.
The board approved the transfer of $30,000 from the general fund to the Capital Project fund to cover roof improvement projects.
Ms. Morris reported on a successful senior trip. Ms. Weldon took 18 honor roll students to the Royals baseball game on June 15.
The board entered in to executive session for employee matters.
Next board meting was set for 7 p.m. on Monday, July 16, at the high school in Jameson. The above are the unapproved minutes of the R-3 meeting June 18. Board members present were David Iddings, Jason Lewis, Chris Nelson, Cecil McCrary, Beverly Hunter. Doug Baker and Debbie Ray were absent.
