Area college students graduate, on honor rolls

Jennifer M Shaffer, Gallatin, was among the students named to the Columbia College dean’s list for the March session 2007:

To be named to the dean’s list a student must have completed 12 semester hours and achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or greater on a four point scale.

Columbia College serves nearly 25,000 students at its 32 Nationwide Campuses, Online Campus, Graduate Studies Program and Day Campus.

The college was founded in 1851 as Christian Female College and was renamed Columbia College in 1970 when it became coeducational.

Graceland University

Graceland University’’s Spring 2007 Commencement ceremonies were held recently in Lamoni, Iowa. Among those students from this area are Amber Estep, Winston, Bachelor of Arts; and McKinzie Pendleton, Gallatin, Bachelor of Arts.

Graceland is a small, liberal arts university – its sponsor church is the Community of Christ, based in Independence. Graceland was founded in 1895. Its campus is located among the rolling hills of southern Iowa, equidistant from Des Moines, Iowa and Kansas City.

Graceland University operates campuses in Lamoni and Independence and degree completion programs at two community college sites in Centerville, Iowa and Trenton. Many online degree programs are available. The university offers four-year, liberal arts-based bachelor degrees and master programs in nursing, education and religion. Students graduate at different times of the year because of the many types of programs offered by Graceland.

Northwest Missouri State University – Maryville

The Office of the Registrar and the Graduate School at Northwest Missouri state University in Maryville, have released the names of students who completed requirements for degrees at the conclusion of the 2007 spring trimester.

Students from our area include Nathan W. Uthe of Altamont, MBA, M.B.A.; and Amanda LeAnn Bohannon of Jameson, agricultural business, B.S.

University of Missouri – Rolla

The University of Missouri – Rolla announces the names of students who made the honor list for the 2007 spring semester. Those on the list carried a minimum of 12 hours and had grade point averages
of 3.2 or above out of a possible 4.0. UMR, one of the four University of Missouri campuses, is the state’s primary technological campus. Established in 1871 as the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, the school has a long tradition as the leading center in the state for education in engineering and related sciences. In keeping with its land – grant tradition, UMR graduates have aided in the development of the industrial and technological economy of the state and the nation. Students from our area include Derek Scott King of Winston, who is majoring in freshman engineering.
