Paramedics with the Daviess County Ambulance District and fire fighters with the Gallatin Fire Protection District sponsored the arrival of the air ambulance to help the students in Chris Elbert’s driver’s education class better understand safety issues and steps to take at the scene of an accident. LifeFlight Eagle is affiliated with Children’s Mercy Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital and St. Joseph Health Center, all in Kansas City. These aircraft can speed toward the patient at up to 150 miles an hour. LifeFlight Eagle helicopters are strategically based throughout the service area in Trenton at the Trenton Municipal Airport, in Blue Springs at the Central Jackson County Fire Prevention District Station #3 and in Harrisonville at the Lawrence Smith Memorial Airport. A child friendly BK117 is based at Kansas City’s Children’s Mercy Hospital to accommodate neonatal and pediatric critical care missions.
