Regina Burge was hired for half time classroom teacher and half time curriculum director during the regular meeting of the Winston R-6 Board of Education held on Thursday, May 17.The board accepted the resignation of Mandi Hemry.

The board also accepted the resignation of Linda Warford as Federal Programs Coordinator for the next school year and accepted Jeremy Covey and Philip Pohren for that position.

Superintendent Lisa Bielby presented an update on school board policies to be voted on during the June meeting.

Transportation information, including the possibility of contracting, was discussed with no action taken.

STI training dates were set.

Approval was given to purchase additional components of the lunch and student assessment program.

Bids will be taken for the painting of the gym.

Summer projects were discussed.

Elementary Principal Philip Pohren reported preschool enrollment of 16 and kindergarten through sixth grade enrollment of 99 and an attendance rate of 95.34%.

High School Principal Jeremy Covey reported an enrollment of 77 in grades 7-12 and an attendance rate of 94.52%.

The board went into executive session to discuss personnel.

Next board meeting was set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, in the school library.
