The Pattonsburg FFA Chapter celebrated their annual FFA banquet on May 15, at the Pattonsburg First Baptist Church.

 The night’s festivities started off with a welcome from our President Kate Hangley. A power point presentation recognized all of the Pattonsburg FFA members and their accomplishments over this past year. A parent appreciation ceremony was presented. President Kate Hangley congratulated the chapter for being the 14th top chapter in the state of Missouri.

The awards ceremony began with Vice President Mike Foster presenting Haley Slessman with her FFA Creed Speaking contest award, gold rating. It is the first gold rating received by our chapter at an area contest. Alyssa Lambert, silver rating, area contest public speaking; Tiffany de Jong, silver rating, area public speaking contest; Rhyse Curtis, extemporaneous public speaking contest at the area and district level, silver rating; Alyssa Lambert participated in the Cooperatives Speech Contest.

Secretary Alyssa Lambert, gold rating and third place, area level secretary’s book; Treasurer Justin Nalle, gold rating and second place area contest, treasurers book. The FFA scrapbook by Tiffany de Jong, Becca Bowland, and Caroline Hulet, received gold rating, area contest.

The entomology team of Rhiannon Riley, Becca Bowland, Caroline Hulet, and Katie Bell, advanced to the District level and placed 25th out of 49 teams. Rhiannon Riley received a Group 1 individual rating and number 32 out of 182 participants. The knowledge team of Laura Zimmerman, Heather Allee, Joey Huffman, and Lindsey Lambert received 7th place at the District level and then receiving 36th and a Group 2 rating at the State level.

Chapter scholarship medals were received by Becca Bowland, Kate Hangley, Alyssa Lambert, Lindsey Lambert, Travis Lowrey, Nick Roberts, Rhyse Curtis, Jeff Parton, Aleah Sperry, Haley Slessman, Laura Zimmerman, Clay Bell, Tiffany de Jong, Rhiannon Riley, Kortlyn Talbert, Kristina Breeden, and Caroline Hulet. Chapter Leadership awards were given to Haley Slessman, Lindsey Lambert, Laura Zimmerman, Joey Huffman, Jake Morris, Heather Allee, Katie Bell, Bryan Nalle, Nick Roberts, and Rhiannon Riley.

Alyssa Lambert and Rhyse Curtis were recognized for serving as official state FFA delegates. Mariah Wood was recognized for being a state media room worker.

Education SAE Proficiency Award; Justin Nalle – Ag. Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Placement Proficiency Award; Kortlyn Talbert – Ag. Processing Proficiency Award; Justin Nalle – Ag. Sales Placement Proficiency Award; Caroline Hulet, Becca Bowland, Lindsey Lambert, Rhyse Curtis, and Kristina Breeden – Beef Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award; Justin Nalle – Diversified Crop Production Proficiency Award; Mariah Wood – Diversified Horticulture Proficiency Award; Rhiannon Riley and Haley Slessman – Equine Science Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award; Haley Slessman – Equine Science Placement Award; Clay Bell, Katie Bell, Donnie Tucker, and Kristina Breeden – Poultry Production; Haley Slessman and Rhiannon Riley – Small Animal Care and Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award; Joey Huffman and Rhiannon Riley – Specialty Animal Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award; Justin and Bryan Nalle – Swine Production Placement Proficiency Award; Alyssa Lambert and Jeremy Pittsenbarger – Turf Grass Management SAE.

Sam Sperry gave out the BTC Bank Scholarship to Haley Slessman. Outstanding Freshman Award – Joey Huffman; Outstanding Sophomore Award – Travis Lowrey; Outstanding Junior Award – Alyssa Lambert. The Star Awards were presented to: Lindsey Lambert – Star Greenhan; Becca Bowland Star Sophomore Award; Rhyse Curtis – Star Placement Award. Justin Nalle was awarded the DeKalb Senior Award.

The Pattonsburg FFA Chapter had two seniors receiving their State Degrees: Justin Nalle and Aleah Sperry. All seniors who had been in the FFA for four straight years received certificates and retired their jackets. The Honorary FFA Degrees were presented by President Kate Hangley to Leonard Barr, Jeff Bowland, and Craig and Rhonda Lambert. New officers were installed: President Kate Hangley, Vice President Alyssa Lambert, Secretary Tiffany de Jong, Treasurer Rhyse Curtis, Reporter Becca Bowland, Sentinel Caroline Hulet, and Historian Haley Slessman.
