City Administrator Zac Johnson stated that a student working through a Green Hills program would be available to work for the city this summer.
Mr. Johnson submitted new rates on the employee’s current medical insurance plan, which renews July 1.
Mr. Johnson discussed the sidewalk grant, the street project, and the cleaning of ditches and road tubes.
Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from April 22 to May 7: Reports Taken/Tickets Given: 5 – dogs at large; 1 – stealing; 1 – no dog tags; 1 – careless driving; 1 – DUI; 1 – assault; 2 – warrants served. There are seven dogs in the pound.
During old business, discussion was held on complaints regarding newspapers in yards, sale barn traffic, apartments on W. Grand, resurfacing North Adams St; accepting credit cards at city hall; new signs that were ordered for Olive St.; the new water well; and Scott Stephens, the city’s auditor.
During new business, discussion was held on the financial statement and on the swimming pool.
During comments by aldermen, Bob Snidow inquired about the handicap dock at Dockery Park and about special water meters for garden hoses.
Dan Lockridge inquired about city employees having interest in changing retirement plans.
Mayor Barb Ballew submitted a bid from Noel’s Nursery on landscaping the front of city hall. No action was taken.
Freedom of the Road Riders out of Cameron expressed appreciation to the mayor for signing the motorcycle proclamation and the hospitality show by the city of Gallatin during public comment.
Bills in the amount of $165,799.50 were approved for payment.
The board entered into closed session pursuant to hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting employees.
