For the third straight season, South Harrison has proven to be a hard team to beat in Grand River Conference golf.
South Harrison, with a team score 329, held off Gallatin (398) last Wednesday to win its third consecutive conference golf title by placing five varsity golfers in the top seven at the GRC meet held in Albany. SHHS senior Tucker Perkins successfully defended his individual title, shooting a 74 to beat Maysville runnerup Alex Berry by nine strokes.
Derrick McBroom led Bulldog efforts with a 94, good enough for ninth place in the race for the medalist award. Andy Ward and Ethan Merrigan each shot 99 for Gallatin. Brandon Meseberg carded a 106 and Robert Rhoades chipped in 128 for the GHS squad.
Team totals from conference included: 1. South Harrison 329, 2. Gallatin 398, 3. Worth County and Hamilton 400, 5. Maysville 405 and Albany 462. Princeton and Stanberry did not have enough golfers to compete as a team.
The top ten finishers from Wednesday were: 1. Tucker Perkins (SH) 74, 2. Alex Berry (M) 83, 3. Jordan Shipers (SH) 84, 4. Zach Kastelic (SH) 85, 5. Cale Brown (H) 86, 6. Logan Kelim (SH) 86, 7. Logan Kadolph 88, 8. Ben Sorensen (A) 94, 9. Derrick McBroom (G) 94 and 10. Jared Price (WC) 95.
