Gallatin First Baptist
The message Sunday from Bro. Spencer was "How to Treat Momma," from I Kings 2:13-20. The graduating seniors were introduced to the congregation and presented with a Chares Stanley Study Bible. The message in song was "Find Your Wings" as a tribute to the seniors. Mothers were recognized. There were no services Sunday evening.
Church-in-Conference is May 20. Youth will be attending a Christian Rock Concert on Sunday evening, May 20. They will leave the church at 3:45.
Altamont United Methodist
Pastor Marilyn’s scripture reading was Proverbs 31, "A Truly Good Wife and Mother." She blessed all mothers with red and pink carnations. Sunday’s message was "Called by God." Baskets of gifts were given to Nina Allen, oldest mother, Andrea Toney, youngest mother, and mother with the most family present, Marlene Allen.
Laura Youtsey gave a special tribute to mothers. Amy Anthuis brought her art work for all to enjoy. Prayer needs are for Levi Thompson.
Assembly of God
The morning worship service included special honors and gifts for each mother. Gloria Lint, mother of five boys, delivered the Mother’s Day message from Ruth, where we discovered mother-in-laws can have great influence, "Your God Shall Be My God." Ina McFee, mother of two daughters, sang "Make Me a Blessing."
The main Sunday School lesson taught us the Bible financial principles: Honor God with your giving and put God first. There was a special time of prayer for Kirsten Collins and her parents, Jeff and Stacey. God’s promise for this week is "My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in your weakness."
Pattonsburg UMC Charge
Pastor Barbara Starr’s sermon was based on Act 11:1-18; I John 4:7-21; and John 13:31-35. Remember in prayer Rosanne Parmenter, Vera and Charlie Hillyard, Leah Trullinger, Betty Cameron, Arlene Yost and Dolores Cameron.
Pattonsburg First Baptist
Responsive reading was "Home and Family: Recognition of Mothers." The message was by Michael Gomulka using I Corinthians 15:1-11 as his text. Health concerns: Nicole Munday, Mary Minor, Bill and Kathryn Carter, Mikey Kincaid, Arlene Yost, Kelly Nalle, Vivian Bowman, Steven Brown, Susan Wilson, Rebecca Nalle, Clyde Bozarth and Tyler Miller. The following TeamKIDS were recognized for attendance at our family/awards night last Sunday: Molly Thatcher, Liam Mooney, Katie Warford, Garrett Hartley and Geoffrey Hartley. Kelly Warford received special recognition for perfect attendance, and Molly and Liam for bringing their Bible to all the meetings they attended.
Fairview Community
Vern Bridgman read for Psalms 113. Sunday School concluded at Revelation 12:18. Special prayers were for Roger Loxterman, Jewell Swofford and Bro. Davis. Special Mother’s Day flowers were given to Beverly Lang and Pauline Bridgman.
Jameson First Baptist
Rev. E.J. Barnes’ morning message was "Characteristics of a Godly Mother," from I Samuel 1 and 2:1-11. Colt Bohannon was presented a Bible for graduation. In honor of Mother’s Day, flowers were presented to all the ladies. Oldest mother was Margaret Meseberg and the youngest mother was Linda Bohannon.
May 19 is Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 8 a.m. at Jamesport. June 11-16 is youth camp at Grand Oaks. July 16-20 is children’s camp at Grand Oaks. Prayer needs: Roger Loxterman, Patrick McBroom, Mary Louise Hackett, Marvin Gray, James and Peggy Jincks, Frank and Shirley Smith, Anna Gray, Don Larsen and Margaret Meseberg.
Olive Baptist
Bro. David’s Sunday morning message was "The Virtues of Christian Mothers," from Ruth 1. Our youth honored each mother with flowers. We held Sunday services at the Lake Viking Health Care Center. We are still collecting items for the Baptist home.
Winston First Baptist
"For the Lord is good and His love is eternal, His faithfulness endures through all generations," Psalms 105. Rev. Ron Smith from Bethany was present in the absence of our pastor. His message was "Come Into His Presence," from Psalms 47:1-4. Rev. Each mother received a begonia from the church. We have several on our prayer list, including Sharon Moore, Winifred Strausser and Ann Uthe. Wednesday at 6:30 is choir practice and at 7 p.m. is Bible study.
"Come Unto me all you who are burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and you will find rest unto your souls. For my burden is easy and my yoke is light," Matthew 11:28-30.
Lake Viking
Pastor Robert Nelson gave the message "The Happiness of Hannah." Scriptures were from Proverbs 31:10-31, James 5:16 and I Samuel 1. Special prayer concerns are for Roger Loxterman and Kent Tadlock.
Gallatin First Christian
Pastor Russ Hamilton’s message was "A Spiritual Legacy," from Psalm 67 and John 14:15-29. Sheri Croy gave the children’s message and first service and Mark Corwin at second service. Sherri Kerns’ shared a Mother’s Day tribute; Kim Ness had special music during communion; LaVaughn Thomas and Cecelia Whitt were presented a hanging basket for Mother’s Day.
Barbara Wilson and Marsha McBee sang a special. Baby dedications were held.
The Women’s Fellowship Chat Group meets May 17, 7-9 p.m. at Green Hills. Blood pressure checks are May 20 during Sunday School with nurse Judy Ramsbottom. New e-mail is [email protected]. Office is closed May 28.
