The Missouri FFA Association awarded Alisa Wilson, Hamilton FFA Chapter, first place in the FFA Prepared Public Speaking Division II Career Development Event at the 79th Missouri FFA Convention.The chapter advisor is Brant Burns. She is the daughter of Jerry and Michelle Wilson of Altamont.
Sixteen students competed at the state level. Division II Prepared Public Speakers deliver a four-to-six minute speech based on an agriculture topic that they have selected and researched. The contestants present their speech in front of a panel of judges and then undergo an additional four minutes of questions. The judges base their decision on the information presented, the student’s knowledge of the subject, the delivery of the speech and the answers to the questions.
MFA, Inc. and the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources sponsored the event and plaques.
