Members of the Gallatin R-5 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter attended the 2007 Missouri FBLA Leadership Conference on April 15, 16 and 17 in Columbia.

Five R-5 FBLA delegates will attend the National Leadership Conference in Chicago June 26 to July 2: Jonathan Arnold, Phillip Arnold and Emily Michener in Parliamentary Procedure, 1st; Kevin Corwin in Intro to Parliamentary Procedure, 3rd; and Jamie Brinnen in FBLA Principals and Procedures, 3rd.

Jonathan, Phillip and Emily were also named to the Parliamentary Procedures State Team based on their written test scores. There are only five members on this team, and three are from Gallatin.

Phillip Arnold was elected to serve as Missouri State Chapter Parliamentarian for the 2007-2008 school year. The torch was passed to him by his brother Jonathan, who was Missouri State Chapter Parliamentarian for the 2006-2007 school year.

The following students rated in the top 10 at state competition: Sydney Elbert, FBLA Principals and Procedures, 8th; Billy Kerns, Intro to Business, 6th; Carly Boyd, Samantha Mott, Brett Wilkinson, Intro to Parliamentary Procedures, 9th; Alyssa Strein, Multi Media, 8th; Katie Black, Word Processing II, 5th; Jonathan Arnold in Mr. Future Business Leader, 5th; Jonathan and Phillip Arnold, Emily Michener, Wren Tolen and Jon Youd, Parliamentary Procedure Team, 2nd.

Barb Holcomb is the local chapter adviser and accompanied the students to the conference.

FBLA is a career and technical student organization for all high school students participating in business programs. Over 2,600 members and advisers representing 403 chapters throughout the state met to elect state officers, transact business of the state chapter, participate in leadership and career workshops, and compete in the state leadership awards program.
