Rain washes out GHS spring sports efforts in golf and track
Record low temperatures and constant rains continue to put a dent in Gallatin spring sports schedules nearly three weeks into track and golf seasons. Though GHS varsity boys golfers have managed at least one competition per week, Bulldog thinclads have been sidelined from competition ever since March 30.
Smithville Relays results
Bulldog track and field athletes participated in the Smithville Relays near the end of March, but weather cancelled the April 3 Brant Downey Relays in Lathrop, and rains this week forced at least a postponement of the annual Daviess County Relays that were to be held Tuesday in Gallatin.
Plans were to combine both varsity and junior high Daviess County Relays today (Wednesday) but light rains continued to fall this morning and could force a total cancellation of the event. Gallatin varsity track squads are scheduled to compete in the Albany Relays on Saturday, but coaches have indicated that several athletes will be absent with other school-related duties for the next couple of weeks.
Gallatin’s girls finished seventh out of 13 schools at the March 30 Smithville Relays. The Bulldog boys placed eleventh in team standings. Following are GHS results from the meet.
