Most Casey’s stores, like the one in south Gallatin, are called the G model. The new one being built on the north side of town is called the N model.

"It’s the store of Casey’s future," Mr. Golden said. "They still have some bugs to work out."

Mr. Golden has been building the G models since 1994 and thinks he’s done about 30 such Casey’s stores.

"Casey’s is looking for a face lift, I guess," he said. "They want to do things better and look different."

The store will be 77 x 46 feet.

"I don’t think people realize how big it is; this lot barely accommodated this one," Mr. Golden said. "The G model store is seven foot shorter and six foot shallower than this one."

The N model will be a left hand store, with the kitchen and counters on the left side. Typically Casey’s is set up so the counter is on the right as the customer walks in. This store will have three booths so people can sit down and eat. The booths will be on the right side just after entering. There will be 14 cooler doors as opposed to five in the old store. The new store will have multiple-use bathrooms verses single-use in the old model.

There will be 11 designated parking spaces. There will be four islands for fuel and one diesel that will sit separately to the north and be lighted.

"Casey’s doesn’t do a lot of diesel in Missouri but does do a number of them in Iowa," Mr. Golden said.

Mr. Golden said many G model lots have been sold. He just built one in Maysville and is presently building another in Cole Camp in the Lake of the Ozarks. He said he knew of only one other N model similar to the one going up in Gallatin, and that is located at Osage Beach.

"This will be a good little store," Mr. Golden said. "It’s a nice location, easy entrance, big canopy. It will be three-side brick. Whenever somebody builds with brick it means they’re here to stay and be a partner in the community."

Dan Bailey Construction out of Sedalia are the contractors for the project. Mr. Golden said he expects a crew will be back today (Wednesday) to pour the concrete for the driveway and that will take about 10 days to finish.

He said he projected open date is June 27.
