City Administrator Zac Johnson told the Gallatin Board of Aldermen during their regular meeting held Monday, March 26, that the city crews ran tests on the water plant last week and were able to speed up the production flow at the plant from 240 gallons per minute to about 330 gallons per minute.
Because of the increase, the water plant has dropped its running time from 22 hours a day to 16 hours a day. This will hopefully enable the city to produce more water for this summer so water restrictions would not be necessary.

There are nine dogs in the pound.
Chief Richards stated that the Gallatin Police Department is preparing to send letters for code violations. These violations will include junk vehicles, old building materials, car parts and all other nuisance violations. The department is hoping to get these letters out before spring cleanup, which will be April 17 and 19, so people can dispose of unwanted items.
Discussion was held by the board on the home demolition list. Any property owner wishing to be on the list may contact Zac Johnson at City Hall for more information.
City Administrator Johnson stated that the first order of 51 banners has been placed. A second order will be placed in two to three months for anyone still interested.
Discussion was held on the water distribution system.
Mike Walkers bid of $600 was accepted for the mowing of the cemeteries for 2007 season providing he has adequate insurance of a least $500,000.
The following bids were submitted for mowing: Cemetery: Mike Walker $600; J & J Mowing Service $975; Contrast Lawn Care $960.
Discussion was held on city owned cemeteries.
Lockridge commented on a water easement on South Olive.
Public comments were made about newspaper piles in yards, traffic control out at the sale barn, street and stop signs and kids on skates grabbing onto moving vehicles. A comment was made asking reimbursement on grass seed from when the new sewer line was installed. The board motioned to reimburse Doris Linville for grass seed purchased for $42.85. Comment was made about a purchase in the Accounts Payable.
Bills in the amount of $24,449.20 were approved for payment.
The board entered into executive session pursuant to hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting employees.
Discussion was held on Sewer Revenues and Expenses.
