James Lewis, bridge supervisor, reported that culvert repairs and replacements in Colfax and Lincoln Townships will be made this week, weather permitting.

David Holcomb reported that vandals burned a bridge deck on Beacon Avenue in Lincoln Township over the weekend. A culvert will be installed to replace it.

Brad Lager, state senator, met with the commission regarding proposed senate bill 364 relating to agricultural operations.

Lewis Youtsey, Jefferson Township, contacted the commission making corrections to the CART mileage in that township.

David McWilliams, coroner, met with the commission regarding his annual training requirements. He was referred to the prosecuting attorney for direction.

At 1:30 p.m. as advertised, bids were opened for corrugated metal pipe. Bids were received from Metal Culverts Inc. and Contech Construction. Contech had no bid on polymer-coated pipe, which the county frequently uses. The matter was taken under advisement as David Holcomb was absent in the afternoon.

A resident from Harrison County met with the commission regarding a narrow bridge in Lincoln Township, section 35. The commission will inspect to see if the bridge can be replaced with a large pipe.

At 2:30 p.m. as advertised, bids for crushed stone, CART rock, were opened. Bids were received from Trager Limestone, APAC and Norris Aggregates. The matter was taken under advisement until comparisons are made.

Annie Gibson, prosecuting attorney, met with the commission with information regarding the funding of a victim’s advocate.

Bills were audited and paid.

County Clerk

The county clerk’s office will be open Saturday until noon for absentee ballots.

Sheriff’s Office

Samuel Corwin, 22, Jamesport, was arrested March 20 for no valid license, third and subsequent offense, class D felony. Bond was set at $5,000.

Bond was revoked for Josh Verhagen, 32, Jamesport, on a DWI charge. He is being held at Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail.

Williams Blessing, 20, New Hampton, was arrested March 26 for failure to appear on a misdemeanor speeding charge. He posted $250 bond.

Tyler Owens, 19, Newtown, was charged March 24 with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. He posted $750 bond.

Associate Circuit Court

Defendants found guilty in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County are listed below with the offense and fine assessed. Additionally, court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $66.50 for moving traffic violations, and $114.50 in most criminal cases.

Dee Dee M. Palmer, Independence, no insurance, suspended imposition of sentence, two years probation, 30 hours community service.

Rickie W. Chaney, Gilman City, driving while revoked amended by prosecuting attorney to no valid license, 48 hours jail (board bill paid by defendant); speeding $58.50.

Donna R. Covey, Winston, no valid license, $150; failure to register vehicle, $28.50.

Lisa Workman, Rosemount, Minn., possession of paraphernalia, $150; speeding, $28.50.

Bradley M. Moses, St. Peter, Minn., possession of paraphernalia, $150; speeding, $18.50.

Damion Collins, possession of marijuana, 48 hours jail (board bill paid by defendant); possession of paraphernalia, $150.

Lee A Grawe, Gallatin, driving while intoxicated, suspended imposition of sentence, two years probation, 30 hours community service; careless and imprudent, $58.50.

Aleksandr S. Petrashov, Maple Grove, Minn., no valid license, $150; failure to signal, $28.50.

John C. Moots, Trenton, possession of marijuana, 48 hours jail (board bill paid by defendant).

Lois J. Lepkowsky, Trenton, no valid license, 48 hours jail, $25 fine; speeding, $28.50; no plates, $18.50.

No valid license: Christopher C. Wethington, Dallas Center, Iowa, $150; Christie L. Houghton, Olathe, Kan., $150.

The following are traffic cases which were heard in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County involving a plea of guilty without contest and payment by mail of the standard fine plus court costs. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside outside of Missouri was $1,620.50 for 24 tickets. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside in Missouri was $1,003 for 16 cases. Court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $56.50 for moving traffic violations. Missouri defendants, offenses and fines are listed below:

Speeding amended by prosecuting attorney to defective brakes: Graig D. Gulley, Wentzville, $200; Denise D. Peterson, St. Louis, $250.

Robert W. Caldwell, Winston, speeding amended by prosecuting attorney to failed to equip vehicle with adequate brakes, $143.50 and no seat belt, $10.

No seat belt: Cole K. Froman, Gallatin, $10; Zachary L. Wilson, Grain Valley, $10; Ernest G. Pazar, St. Joseph, $10; Traci S. Spickard, Trenton, $10; Todd J. Miller, Weatherby, $10.

Civil Court

A breach of contract suit, Capital One vs. William A. Meek, was dismissed.

A consent judgement was entered for plaintiff MRC Receivables Corporation and against defendant Irving Dame for a suit on account.

Ron Callahan vs. Byron Simpson and Robert Zeysing was dismissed by the parties.

Circuit Court

On March 26, in Rhodes Engineering Co. vs. City of Gallatin, the court found that all issues between the parties were fully settled. The case was dismissed with prejudice, with defendant paying costs of $1,300.

Law Day proceedings were conducted by Judge Warren McElwain on March 20 as follows:

Jonathan Ranes plead guilty to an amended charge of driving while intoxicated, class A misdemeanor, based on a plea agreement. He was sentenced to six months in the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail, execution of sentence suspended. Defendants was placed on two years probation under supervision of the 43rd Judicial Court Services.

Joseph J. Taub plead guilty to the class C felony, possession of a controlled substance, based on a plea agreement. A sentence assessment reported was ordered.

Ricky L. Holmes plead guilty to the class D felony of DWI, based on a plea agreement. A sentence assessment report was ordered.

Ronald L. Tarepin plead guilty to the class C felony of possession of a controlled substance in a correctional center. A sentence assessment report was ordered. Bond was reduced to $25,000 (10% cash).

Damien O. Head plead guilty to Count 1 possession of marijuana, class A misdemeanor, Count 2 unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, class A misdemeanor, and Count 3 operating vehicle without valid license 3rd and subsequent offense, class D felony, based on a plea agreement. A sentence assessment report was ordered.

Bryan C. Thomas plead guilty to the class D felony operating a vehicle on the highway without valid license, based on a plea agreement. A sentence assessment report was ordered.
