Richard Mooney was hired as Pattonsburg’s economic developer during the regular meeting of the city’s board of aldermen held Wednesday, March 14. Mr. Mooney will hold the job for a year.
The council will review and evaluate the progress in six months and decide if it could become a permanent position. The city will cover the cost of the economic developer’s phone usage and advertising expense.
The attorney for Public Supply District #1, Ed Proctor, discussed concerns regarding the water contract with the board. The board moved to have the water district’s attorney get a list of the items in question to the city council so they can go over the items in more detail with them. The city’s attorney will look over the contract also.
With summer ball league approaching, the board motioned to collect a $250 deposit from the league and to hold it in case of any needed repairs.
Concerning summer help, the city is trying to go through Green Hills but would consider paying the additional amount necessary to allow more time to complete the summer work.
The board passed a motion that after four years, the city will no longer consider as possible income the delinquent taxes of people who have moved out of town.
The board heard a third reading of ordinance #31407 pertaining to the agreement with the city’s attorney. A motion carried and the ordinance is in effect as of March 14.
A motioned carried to raise the council’s yearly fee from $250 a year to $400 and the mayor’s from $400 to $640 a year, to begin after the April election of 2007.
The board entered into closed session to discuss employee reviews.
