The final P.A.L.S. meeting was held at the Covel D. Searcy Elementary school on Tuesday, March 13. Parents Actively Learning Skills is a program offered to kindergarten parents wishing to learn more about Early Literacy. Kindergarten teachers, Kindergarten PLUS teacher, and the Speech Pathologist presented the sessions. Fifteen kindergarten families were represented and participated in activities that revolved around stories by Dr. Seuss. Topics included: Cat In The Hat Snack, If I Ran The Zoo, Create An Animal, The Foot Book Opposites, and Sam I Am Tic-Tac-Toe. The Cat in the Hat visited and shared his favorite stories with the students. A special rendition of Happy Birthday was sung by the group, as the Cat turned 50 years old this year. Kindergarten students who attended the meeting received a free book. Educational handouts were available for parents. There was a special drawing for students who had attended at least two of the three P.A.L.S. meetings during the year. Winners of the special library books, that were donated by the Covel D. Searcy library were: Cheyenne Lambert, Tayton Terry, and Ayden Wayne.
