A two-wheel horse drawn cart, driven by 10-year-old Solomon J. Schmucker of Jamesport, westbound, went into the eastbound lane of Rte. F when the horse spooked, according to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The cart was struck by a motorcycle driven by William Sutton, 71, of Chillicothe at about 3:10 p.m. on Monday, March 5, on Rte. F west of Rte. U, about two miles east of Jamesport.
Mr. Sutton was ejected and landed in the eastbound lane. He received moderate injuries and was taken by Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical. Three occupants of the buggy were also ejected and landed in the ditch, but sustained no injuries.
The 2002 Harley Davidson was extensively damaged and towed by Jerry’s Garage of Jamesport. The cart was moderately damaged and driven from the scene.
The accident was investigated by Sgt. M.A. Ott, assisted by Tpr. T. Goolsby, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.
No summons were issued.
