Funeral services for Clarbel Haskell will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at Bram-Summerfield Funeral Home in Stewartsville, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday), March 7, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Culbertson Chapel United Methodist Church.
Clarbel Haskell, 88, of Stewartsville, formerly of Jamesport, died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at the Arbor View Nursing Home in St. Joseph.
Mrs. Haskell was born June 10, 1918, to Wayne and Zephy (Spore) Howard in Cameron. She was a graduate of Cameron high school and had been a resident of Stewartsville for 42 years. Previously, the family lived in Shannon City, Iowa, where Mr. Haskell was superintendent of schools.
On Aug. 24, 1939, she married Eldon Haskell at Cameron.
She was a homemaker and a member of Culbertson Chapel United Methodist Church of Stewartsville, past president of the U.M.W., a member of the D.A.R. at Cameron, and various book and garden clubs in the area.
Mrs. Haskell was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harry Howard and Alton Howard; and daughter, Joanne Johnson.
Her survivors include her husband, Eldon; one son, Robert Haskell of Maysville; one brother, David Howard of North Platte, Neb.; one sister, Marguerite Evans of St. Joseph; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
