The Crysania K. Wheeler Memorial Scholarship is being offered by Della and Paul Carroll and their family to honor their daughter who died January 4, 2007, from injuries incurred in a one-vehicle accident on January 2.

Crissy was a hard-working student scheduled to graduate in May 2007. She became involved in many activities at GHS after transferring here from Sweet Springs the beginning of her sophomore year. Crissy excelled at art of all types and was a member of the GHS Art Club. She was also dedicated to "Upward Bound," a college preparatory program coordinated through North Central Missouri College. Crissy was also involved in FFA but more than all of these accomplishments, her main love was tutoring elementary students. God had given her a special ability to relate well with little children. In fact, Crissy’s success at this tutoring experience had persuaded her to major in elementary education in college.

The $500 scholarship to honor Crissy will require the recipient to major in elementary education as well as demonstrate some financial need. Interested seniors must also have achieved at least a 2.5 grade-point average during their high school years. Most of all, however, the recipient of the scholarship must have demonstrated both a love for children and the motivation to succeed in both college and career goals.

Another scholarship of $500 will be awarded in two years when Marquis Wheeler, Crysania’s younger sister, graduates from Gallatin High School. Both scholarship award winners will be selected by a family committee and presented at graduation ceremonies.
