Kevin Daniel, Associate Superintendent for Instructional Services for the Raymore-Peculiar School District was recently honored at the state’s Powerful Learning Conference in St. Louis Feb. 4-6 with the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) Central Office Award.
The award is given to school leaders who show exceptional support and leadership for school improvement. Dr. Daniel was nominated by one of his peers within the district for this prestigious award. Each one of the district’s eleven schools are highly involved in becoming a PLC and two schools were recently named to the Missouri Assessment Program’s Top Ten List for improvement in state assessment scores.
Kevin was also recently contacted by the Missouri State Teacher’s Association to write an article on classroom management for its spring 2007 publication entitled Class Notes. The publication targets teachers in their first few years in teaching and contains information on using best instructional and classroom management practices. Kevin was contacted after officials from MSTA heard about and read reviews from his workshop on classroom management at the state teacher’s convention this past November.
Kevin is now in his fifth year at Ray-Pec. The district has been involved in PLC work going on four years now and recently was Accredited with Distinction for High Achievement. Ray-Pec continues to be one of the fastest growing school district’s in Missouri and is nearing 6,000 K-12 students. Kevin currently serves as an adjunct instructor for Northwest Missouri State and Baker Universities in the areas of leadership, assessment and effective classroom management practices. Kevin has also been a staff development consultant and motivational speaker for over ten years working with a variety of schools in Missouri and Kansas on school and staff improvement topics.
Kevin was a 1984 graduate of Pattonsburg High School and former teacher and principal with the district. He is the son of the late John R. and Carolyn S. Daniel and is the stepson of Ernest Meek formerly of Winston.
Kevin lives in Lee’s Summit with his wife Maureen and their two children, Micah (10) and Sophie (3).
