Funeral services for Derrill Jones were held Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family suggests memorial gifts to Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, or to any lymphoma research program.

Derrill R. Jones, 74, Trenton, formerly of Gallatin and St. Joseph, died Wednesday Jan. 31, 2007, in Mission, Texas, the location of his winter home.
Mr. Jones was born March 14, 1932, in Meadville.
He was married to Leah Janet Thompson on June 9, 1957. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Jones was married to Catherine Horton May 13, 2000. She survives of the home.
He was an underwriter for American Family Insurance Company from 1963 to 1995, and served as a regional manager in St. Joseph and Topeka, Kan., during this time.
He was a Christian, and a member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church. He was also a member of Gallatin Lodge No. 106, and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was also an amateur radio operator.
Mr. Jones was also preceded in death by his parents, Raymond S. and Ella Winona (Harding) Jones. Other survivors include one son, Garry Jones of St. Joseph; two daughters, Sherri Koehnlein of St. Joseph and Heather Whitaker of Pleasant Hill; his sister, Donna Hamilton of Bella Vista, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
