County Commission
James Lewis, bridge supervisor, reported that they are continuing to make equipment repairs.
Dave Weldon, Joe Reed and Dick Carpenter, Harrison Township board members, met with the commission with concerns regarding the maintenance of Unity Avenue and 302nd Street. Heavy traffic from State Route M to Lock Springs causes extreme problems, with the township having limited resources. They discussed traffic count and road upgrades. The commission will contact Green Hills Regional Planning Commission to obtain a traffic count in Harrison Township. Also, they discussed other areas in the township where problems exist.
The commission reviewed the 2007 budgets in all funds, making adjustments where necessary, prior to the final public hearing. There was a discussion regarding the reimbursement of meals traveling to and from required training and other meetings. Danny Heldenbrand moved to continue the policy of no reimbursements for meals from the commission controlled funds. David Holcomb seconded. Holcomb – yes; Heldenbrand – yes; Critten – no.
Danny Heldenbrand reported having attended the Access II meeting on Jan. 23, reviewing the proposed leased document.
Lance Critten reported that he attended the last meeting of the Disability Board. They requested a list of potential board members.
The commission discussed the personnel policy. The commission unanimously amended the policy sections 12.1, 12.2, and 13.3 concerning anniversary dates and part-time employees.
Randy Railsback, Green Hills Regional Planning Commission, met with the commission regarding the appointment of an at-large representative and other common interests.
At 1:30 p.m. as advertised, the final budget hearing was held. Georgia Maxwell, recorder, was present, due to a change in her final budget. The commission unanimously accepted the final budget and executed the appropriation order of $4,213,530.14.
The commission inspected the Lambert building for adequate storage of courthouse records.

Paul Westbrook, 49, Prairie City, La., was charged Feb. 4 with misdemeanor DWI. He posted $675 bond.

Circuit Court
Leon Clemons, Des Moines, Iowa, plead guilty Feb. 1 to possession of marijuana, class A misdemeanor. He had been scheduled for a jury trial on Feb. 1. He was sentenced to five days in the county jail. The case was heard by Judge Daren Adkins
Civil cases filed: Megan Province, Gilman City, vs. Lisa Long, Gilman City, personal injury.
Several cases were heard on Feb. 2 by Judge Stephen K. Griffin.
Richard Farmer of Jamesport had plead guilty to three counts of burglary second degree on Dec. 5, 2006. He received a suspended imposition of sentence and five years probation on each count.
James D. Souders of Jamesport had plead guilty to three counts of burglary second degree on Nov. 7, 2006. On each of the three counts, the court suspended the imposition of sentence and placed the defendant on probation for five years.
Joshua D. McCartney, McFall, had plead guilty on Nov. 7 to burglary second degree, property damage second degree and theft/stealing. He received a suspended imposition of sentence on each count, five years probation on the burglary charge and two years probation on the property damage and theft charges. He was ordered to serve 11 days shock incarceration.
Adam J. Albert, Pattonsburg, had plead guilty on Oct. 3, 2006, to burglary second degree, property damage second degree and theft/stealing. On each count, the court suspended the imposition of sentence and placed the defendant on five years probation.
Gabriel A. Bandstra, Monroe, Iowa, had plead guilty on Nov. 7 to possession of a controlled substance. The court suspended the imposition of sentence and placed the defendant on five years probation.
Shawn P. Green, Prairie City, Iowa, had entered a guilty plea on Nov. 7, 2006, to possession of a controlled substance. He received a suspended imposition of sentence and five years probation.
Peter M. Guirguis, Kansas City, had plead guilty Nov. 7, 2006, to possession of a controlled substance. He received a suspended imposition of sentence and five years probation. He was also ordered to serve eight days shock incarceration time.
James B. Brostrom, Overland Park, Kan., had plead guilty on Dec. 5, 2006, to two counts of assault second degree, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of firearm while intoxicated. He was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections on each count, sentence to be served consecutively.
Charles D. McCasland, Sedalia, plead guilty Nov. 7 to possession of a controlled substance. The court suspended the imposition of sentence and placed the defendant on five years probation.
Cesar E. Estrada-Lopez, Perry, Iowa, had plead guilty Oct. 3, 2006, to possession of a controlled substance. He received a suspended imposition of sentence and five years probation.
