Filings point to spring election battles

Filing for  mayor at city hall are Barb Ballew and Carla Arnold; filing for west ward aldermen is Barry Wood; filing for east ward aldermen are Bob Snidow and Bob Rogers. J.D. Dowell has filed for the remaining year of east ward alderman Kenneth King. Mr. Dowell was appointed to the position after Mr. King’s resignation in September of 2006.
Present mayor of Gallatin is Barb Ballew; west ward aldermen are Dan Lockridge and Gene Caldwell; east ward aldermen are Bob Snidow and J.D. Dowell.
All five county schools will vote for two successors to fill three-year terms on the school board. Gallatin R-5 and Winston R-6 will also vote to fill unexpired terms due to resignations.
At Gallatin R-5, Brice Terry and Bill Irby have signed up for the two three-year terms. Filing for the one two-year term are Mike Ward and Ray Clevenger. The two-year term is  to replace Martin Sweatman. Gallatin R-5 chose to neither elect nor appoint anyone to fill the balance of Mr. Sweatman’s term.
Presently serving on R-5 Board are Brice Terry, Clint Vanatta, Dr. William Irby, Allan Lunsford, Sandra Alden and Vicki Corwin.
Three people have filed for two positions on the Tri-County R-7 School Board. Seeking the three year term are Cathi Cranmer, John C. Hobbs, and Greg Landes. The terms of Tim Wahlers and Russ Hopkins will expire in April. Others serving on the board at R-7 are Rodney Odom, Brandon Hoover, Mike Huston, Stephanie Eckert and Sandy Provorse.
Filing for two three-year terms on the school board at Pattonsburg R-2 are Greg Brown, Jason Teel, Lincoln Cornett and Gene Walker. Board members presently serving at R-2 are Craig Lambert, Patty Hartley, Ben de Jong, Gene Thatcher, Diane Hulett, Lincoln Cornett and Cindy Estep.
Voters will choose two board members for three year terms at North Daviess. Filing are Cecil McCrary, Janelda Weber, David Iddings and Gene Morris. Board members presently serving at R-3 are David Iddings, Jason Lewis, Chris Nelson, P.J. Burnett, Debbie Ray, Beverly Hunter and Doug Baker.
Filing at Winston R-6 for two positions for three year terms are Scott Wilkerson, Julie Lee Clark and G. David Neth. R-6 also has one opening for a one year term. Filing for that position are Tanya Brown Farrell, Duane Heldenbrand and Joseph Michael. The one-year term is to replace Steve Lee. David Neth completed the term vacated after Mr. Lee’s resignation. Present board members at R-6 are Allan Ward, Shelly Mason, Barb Youtsey, Chretta Mastin, Joe Michael, Dan Bridgeman and David Neth.
