The Daviess County Multi Purpose Senior Citizen Center in Gallatin is pleased to announce the establishment of a partnership with the AARP Tax-Aide program.

This program will provide free federal and state tax preparation for the residents of the community.
There are no age limits, although emphasis will be placed especially on serving the senior community. Tax returns that require a farm schedule or a business schedule will not be prepared. Last year, the AARP Tax-Aide program volunteers prepared 18,000 federal returns and 32,000 state returns for Missouri residents.
Because of the Federal Telephone Excise Tax Credit that is available for 2006, it is anticipated that those who do not normally file a federal return will file one this year to receive the refund that can be claimed.
The AARP Tax-Aide volunteer will be at the Daviess County Multi Purpose Senior Citizen Center Inc office each Thursday from 1-4 p.m. beginning Feb. 8, 2007. No appointment is necessary and clients will be served on a first come first served basis.
