Fances (Barker) Whitman of St. Joseph, formerly of Fairport, will celebrate her 85th birthday on Jan. 28.

She was born on that date in Altamont. She resided in the Altamont area for many years and worked in the recorder’s office at the Gallatin Courthouse during World War II.
She later moved with her husband, T.W., to Fairport. In 1988 she moved to St. Joseph. She has two daughters, Sherry Shepherd (Dean), Agency, and Sandy Gatton, St. Joseph; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
