With the Christmas and New Year’s seasons barely behind us, we need to look forward into the new year and start planning for new seasons to come and reflect back on the year past. A new year brings with it resolutions from each of us that will take hard work and dedication just to achieve our goals, or for some, a resolution that can be broken far too soon into the new year.
Whatever the case, let us all resolve to work together for the benefit of our community, neighborhoods and friends to better serve our city. It really doesn’t take much effort from any of us to extend a helping hand, a pat on the back, a kind word for a job well done, or to just say ‘thanks.’ Sometimes it’s the little things that mean so much.
Our city’s crew has been hard at work taking advantage of our milder than normal weather to catch up on loose ends and prepare for Old Man Winter when he does knock on the door. And we do live in Missouri, so there’s no doubt he will be knocking.
Looking back on this past year, changes have been made, some for the good and some with controversy. And as hard it is for some who find change uncomfortable, it is with the city’s best interest in mind that change goes along with progress. And change was what we all had to do when we took down the 2006 calender and put up the new 2007 one.
Hopefully your new year will be filled with happiness, good health and promises of the new year. With the city’s new calendar it will be with all of you in mind that we prepare for this new year and the progress we make for the betterment of our community, which we all take such pride in.
Working together has become one of my resolutions and hopefully, yours too.
Until next time,
