The performance will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Trenton. She is the daughter of Phyllis Dible, Trenton and Stan Ellis, Gallatin. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Kimberly is pleased to return to the community where much of her family still lives, and where she started her professional music career as a piano teacher and choir director. She studied with Dr. David McKamie in Kirksville while living in Trenton, then attended college at Indiana University. Since then she has worked internationally as a recitalist and music coach to students, professors, and opera companies.

Ji-Woon Jung also attended Indiana University for her master’s degree and is presently studying with Federico Agostini to finish her doctorate in violin performance and literature. She has participated in various international festivals, won numerous competitions, and performed as a soloist in recitals and with orchestras.

Kimberly and Ji-Woon met while preparing for a competition several years ago and have been working as a duo ever since. Duo Jung-Carballo has performed together in recitals in the United States and Mexico, recently winning the prestigious Manuel M. Ponce prize at the Festival de Música de Cámara in Aguascalientes, Mexico. They will return to Mexico in March to perform in the recital series sponsored by the Symphony Orchestra of Aguascalientes, and they have a recital series pending at the International Center in Bloomington, Ind.

The recital Kimberly and Ji-Woon will perform for the Friends of the Arts program includes sonatas by Brahms, Tartini, and Mozart, as well as three concert pieces based on dances: a charming waltz called Estrellita, a virtuostic waltz-Scherzo by Tchaikovsky, and a passionate nocturne-Tarantella by Szymanowski.

Tickets for this performance will be $8 at the door. Friends of the Arts season ticketholders will be admitted free as well as NCMC students with proper identification.
