Funeral services for Carroll Cozad will be held Saturday, Jan. 6, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin, with visitation one hour prior. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday. Graveside services and burial will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, near Macon. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Comfort Care Hospice.

Carroll Wayne Cozad, 81, Altamont, died, Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at his home near Altamont.

Mr. Cozad was born Dec. 27, 1925, in Bloomfield, Iowa, to Oscar and Mabel (Farley) Cozad. He and eight brothers and sisters were raised in Jacksonville.

He served briefly in the Merchant Marines at the end of WWII.

Mr. Cozad married Mary Lou Cleaver in 1948 in Brookfield. They lived in the Claycomo area from 1957 to 1992.

Mr. Cozad worked as a welder, millwright, and was later promoted to field superintendent for Midwest Conveyor in Kansas City, Kan. He was a lifetime member of Carpenter’s Millwright Union Local 1529. After retiring in 1990, he occasionally worked for Concorp Inc. in Kansas City. He later lived on a farm near Altamont.

Mr. Cozad was a member of the Church of Christ in Jamesport.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Olen Cozad.

Survivors include Mary Lou Cozad, Kansas City; one daughter, Rebecca Schreiber, San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Reva Girando, Columbia, Ilda Jean Dudgeon, Mesa, Ariz.; and Lila Farrell, Camdenton; four brothers, Aven Cozad, Buffalo, Harold Cozad, Pensacola, Fla., Jack Cozad, Mesa, Ariz., and Jerry Cozad, Yuma, Ariz.
