County Commission

Don Ohlberg, bridge foreman, reported that they continue to replace metal culverts around the county.

Becky Simpson met with the commission to postpone their appointment for a week.

Bills were audited and paid.

The commission reviewed the proof copy of the plat book.

Carol Wood, Master Gardener, met with the commission requesting permission to place Christmas lights on shrubbery around the courthouse. Granted.

Todd Watson, deputy sheriff, met with the commission regarding a grant application for a law enforcement block grant for equipment.

Notification was received from Missouri Association of Counties workers’ compensation and insurance fund of a dividend credit of $940, a no claims award of $1,553, and a safety award of $932.

These are the approved minutes of Dec. 10, 2006. All commissioners were present, as well as Lance Critten, presiding commissioner-elect.

Circuit Court

Civil cases filed: Bobbie G. Lynn vs. James B. Brostrom, suit for personal injury, asking in excess of $75,000 damages. The case was remanded from U.S. District Court. A request for change of venue has been filed.

Sheriff’s Department

Byron King, 21, Gilman City, was arrested Dec. 12 for misdemeanor third degree assault. He posted $750 bond.

Aaron Rodriguez, 26, Des Moines, was arrested Dec. 12 for misdemeanor no valid license. He posted $500 bond.

Jeffrey Wilson, 37, Trenton, was arrested Dec. 16 for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. He was processed and released after 12-hour detoxification.

Associate Circuit Court

Charges were filed against Robert D. Canaday, Troy, Kan., on Dec. 12 for non-support, class D felony; against Oscar O. Rubio, St. Joseph, on Dec. 13 for passing bad checks, class C felony; and against Robert S. Stegall, Cameron, on Dec. 18 for passing bad checks, class C felony.

Traffic Fines

The following are traffic cases which were heard in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County involving a plea of guilty without contest and payment by mail of the standard fine plus court costs. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside outside of Missouri was $939 for 16 tickets. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside in Missouri was $1,837 for 25 cases. Court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $56.50 for moving traffic violations. Missouri defendants, offenses and fines are listed below:

Cheree A. Gadd, Cameron, was fined $38.50 for failure to register and $88.50 for speeding.

Deborah D. Dube, Coffey, was fined $28.50 for speeding and $10 for no seat belt.

Municipal Division

Court costs for moving violations $32.50; non-moving $29.50.

Daniel Malone, Jameson, was fined $150 for speeding, and $100 for no insurance amended by prosecuting attorney to defective equipment. He was sentenced to five days jail for driving while intoxicated, and received two days jail and a $250 fine for supplying alcohol to a minor.

Zachary Osgood, Gallatin, was sentenced to 10 days jail for minor in possession of alcohol and five days jail for possession of controlled substance.

Johnny W. Smith, Gallatin, was fined $27.50 for speeding, $25 for domestic assault, and $25 for property damage.

Steven D. Yoder, Garnett, Kan., was fined $42.50 for speeding. He received suspended imposition of sentence for minor in possession, two years probation and 30 hours community service.

Yvonne E. Stephenson, Gallatin, was fined $100 for driving while revoked.

Casey C. Sweatman, Gallatin, received one year probation and 15 hours community service for following too close (accident).

Laura A. Love, Gallatin was fined for leaving the scene of an accident amended by prosecuting attorney to failure to equip vehicle with adequate muffler.

Ruth M. Franks, Gallatin was fined for failure to drive on right half of road amended to failure to equip vehicle with adequate muffler.

Tonya D. Scheib, Lee’s Summit, was fined for speeding amended by prosecuting attorney to failure to equipt vehicle with adequate muffler.

Michael P. Garrett, Gorin, was fined $7.50 for improper backing;

Lee A. Grawe, Gallatin, $7.50 for excessive noise.

Timothy R. Price, Jamesport was fined $27.50 for state vehicle license plates required.
