Funeral services for Harry Boyle were held Tuesday at the Shelburne Baptist Church. Burial was in the Shelburne Cemetery. Masonic service was held at McWilliams Family Funeral Home at Jamesport. Arrangements were under the direction of Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home of Trenton. Harry E. Boyle, 81, Jamesport, MO. died Friday, Dec.1, 2006, at his residence where he was under hospice care.
Mr. Boyle was born on Jan. 26, 1925, in Spring Hill, the son of Francis and Fern Anderson Boyle. He graduated from Chillicothe High School and the Chillicothe Business College.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard a submarine rescue ship in the Pacific.
He worked as a depot agent for the Rock Island Railroad and the North Western in Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota, and Illinois for 30 years before retiring in 1987. After his railroad retirement he opened a “flea market” shop in Jamesport in 1994.
He was married to Iris Dockery on June 8, 1948, in Jamesport.
Mr. Boyle was a member of the Shelburne Baptist Church, the Jamesport Masonic Lodge, where he was a master for three years; the York Rites of Trenton, the Order of Eastern Star in Gallatin for 17 years, serving many years as worthy patron; and the American Legion in Trenton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Boyle; and two sisters, Lucille Youngberg and Mary Hook.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Boyle of the home; three sons, Harry D. Boyle, Steve Boyle and Gary Boyle, all of Trenton; two sisters, Vivian Dunn and Vera Boyd, both of Clinton; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
