Funeral services for Marion Murray will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Friends may call after 9 a.m. on Friday. Interment will be at Lyle Cemetery in Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Arbor Day Foundation and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Marion Donald Murray, 92, formerly of Gallatin, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at the Liberty Hospital.

Mr. Murray was born on June 28, 1914, to Charles and Cora (Warren) Murray in Marion, Iowa. He grew up in Brunswick and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1932. He graduated from the Moberly Junior College and then the University of Missouri with a degree in agronomy.

Mr. Murray served as a lieutenant in the Navy in World War II.

He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Lucas on Feb. 16, 1936, in Maryville.

Mr. Murray worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and was the agriculture representative for the Chillicothe State Bank. He also served as president of the Bank of Gallatin.

Mr. Murray was a member of the Cameron Baptist Church and the Gallatin Chapter of the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Brent and Terry Murray, a brother, J.W. Murray, and a sister, Mary Louise McCullough.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary Ellen of the Home; two daughters, Dixie Chapman of Columbia, and Patricia Pierce of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; one sister, Norma Hale of Kansas City; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
