Following months of campaign ads, polling statistics and press reports, the people of Missouri have taken action and made their desires known. Approximately 2.1 million Missourians turned out to cast their votes and let their voices be heard. With that came guidance and direction, and it is now time to put the business of electioneering behind us and focus on serving the will of the people.

When the Missouri General Assembly convenes the 94th General Assembly in January, we will welcome 35 new members to our legislative body. From different areas of the state, and with a multitude of different backgrounds, they will join the 162 current members of the Missouri General Assembly as we work to make Missouri a better place to live.

The agenda for the 94th General Assembly is comprehensive but clear. We will work to grow our economy and foster good paying jobs in our state. By reducing the regulatory burdens, increasing the entrepreneurial opportunities, and demanding a fiscally responsible government, we will create an environment that fosters job creation and job expansion.

By growing jobs, we will grow our economy. By growing our economy, we will generate more sales tax revenue. By generating more sales tax revenue we will be able to increase funding for our state government’s number one priority, educating Missouri’s children. As we have done in the past, we will once again be responsible stewards of the people’s money. Our members, both old and new, understand the necessity of growing good jobs, growing our economy, and working to ensure our young people have the quality education they deserve. We will provide that education without increasing the tax burden on the people of this great state as we work towards making Missouri a better place to work, live, and raise a family.
