Funeral services for Albert Manning Jr. were held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday), Nov. 22, at Poland-Thompson Chapel, Cameron. Service will also be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at Poland-Thompson Chapel, with visitation prior at 9:30 a.m. and burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan.

Albert Manning, Jr., 74, Cameron, formerly of Kidder, died Nov. 18, 2006, at the Missouri Veterans Home, Cameron, where he had been a resident for the past six years. He had been a resident of Kidder since 1984.
Mr. Manning was born on July 9, 1932 in Leavenworth, Kan., to Albert and Rose (Scherer) Manning.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in active duty in Germany during the Korean War.
He and his family owned and operated Global Fireworks since 1990. He retired in 1998. Prior to moving to Kidder, he lived in Shawnee.
He was a member of the Cameron Elks Club BPOE #2615. In Shawnee, he was active in Modified Stock Car racing until the 1980’s and was named rookie of the year in 1961.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather, Loren T. North.
Survivors include his wife, Kim, of Kidder; and their two sons, Kody and Justin; and by his grown children, Tammy Vogt, Shawnee, Kan., and Michael Manning, Polo; one sister, Marvelous Stannard, Lenexa, Kan.; and one grandchild.
