Students were on hand along with a good-sized crowd to honor area veterans on Veteran’s Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Daviess County Courthouse. Mrs. Porter and volunteer’s from her seventh grade class read veteran’s biographies, while Gene Edwards, R-5 instrumental music teacher, and Tye Humphrey and Jon Corwin played the National Anthem and taps. The veterans were very honored by the celebration and the effort by the students to keep their stories alive. Mrs. Porter said she hopes to get together with other county schools and gather more veteran biographies so that the event will be even larger in the future.
