I would like to inform the voters of Daviess County about the upcoming circuit clerk election.

After I was defeated in the Democratic primary election, I was asked by the two remaining candidates to remain as deputy circuit clerk after the general election. I informed Sue Bird that I would not be remaining as her deputy clerk. I was not informed of her intentions to use my name in her campaign ad placed in the Oct. 31 Pony Express. Her campaign claims that she has the experience, training and knowledge to run the office. She will need to use that experience and knowledge to be the circuit clerk. I am waiting until after the general election in this and surrounding counties to make a decision on my future plans.
I enjoyed meeting the voters of Daviess County during the primary election. I appreciate the votes and support that I received. I believe in truth and honesty and want the voters of Daviess County to be informed of the facts.
Pam Howard, Gallatin
Editor’s Note: Since this is the last issue before the election, a copy of Ms. Howard’s letter was provided to Sue Bird as well as an opportunity to respond.
