Junior pitcher Lacey Dixon, sophomore catcher Maggie Strange and freshman shortstop Shelby Chadwick were among 18 players honored from among schools in Northwest Missouri.

Dixon excelled from both sides of the plate, finishing with a 15-3 pitching record and 1.19 earned run average. She struck out 130 batters in 100 innings while giving up just 65 hits and walking 26. As a batter, she hit .360 with a team-leading five doubles and a team-tying high of 14 runs batted in.

Strange led the Lady Bulldogs with a .385 batting average and .635 slugging percentage, 19 runs scored, three homers and 14 stolen bases. She also tied for the team lead with 14 rbi and struck out only once in 52 at-bats. She did not make an error behind the plate, and threw out at least one runner in nearly every GHS game.

Chadwick finished with a .358 average, 12 runs scored, 13 runs batted in and drew a team-high eight walks. She led the team in put outs (20) and assists (28) and registered a .908 fielding percentage.

Final statistics for other GHS post-season honorees show senior Alyssa Strein capping her final season with a .345 batting average, 20 hits, 16 runs scored and five stolen bases. Sophomore Courtney Ray finished with a .308 average, 16 hits, 10 rbi and 10 stolen bases. Senior Ayrica Batson scored 11 runs and chalked up a .953 fielding percentage at first base, with 110 putouts.

Senior Melissa Everman hit .320 in her final season and scored eight runs.

Despite losing seven games to rainouts, the Lady Bulldog victory total was second best in school history (16 in 2004). Their winning percentage this season, .833, topped last season’s previous best .737. The Lady Bulldog winning streak of 13 games also set a new school record, as did their seven wins in Grand River Conference play.
