On Oct. 17, a 1995 Dodge pickup was stopped on I-35 in Daviess County for expired vehicle license. The trooper became suspicious of the driver’s destination. He asked for and received permission to search the truck.
Two members of the Troop H Criminal Interdiction team searched the vehicle and discovered a very large 16 pound brick of marijuana behind the back seat. A separate smaller amount was also found inside the dri- ver’s luggage.
The driver, Mark Wenzel, age 28, of Skidmore, Tex., was arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Wenzel is currently being held in the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail.
The charges for which Mark Wenzel is accused is a mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
