Gallatin Lady Bulldog golfers competed for medals in Tuesday’s MSHSAA Class 1 Girls Golf Championships in Springfield, but missed the cut for the top 15 spots in the rain-shortened event.
"We were disappointed it was shortened to a one-day event," said Gallatin R-5 golf coach Chris Elbert. "Freemont Hills was a good, challenging course for the event," he added. "Danielle had her best performance of the three years she has gone to state. Kathryn improved over her score from last year. Sydney played well early but really struggled over her last twelve holes," he stated.
Senior Danielle Critten shot an 18-hole round of 99 to finish in a tie for 41st place, two shots behind GRC medalist Kim Harding of Worth County. Junior Kathryn Everly shot 107 for Gallatin. Sophomore Sydney Elbert shot 122 for the Lady Bulldogs.
The top six spots in the medalist race fell to members of private schools. Pembroke Hill won the Class 1 title by placing four golfers in the top five finishers.
The GRC’s Worth County finished sixth in team competition. Hamilton brought up the rear with a ninth place finish.
